Once assembled, the D113 Caucus will convene in early September to evaluate candidates interested in running for the Township High School District 113 Board of Education. Candidates who have completed and returned the Questionnaire by October 11, 2024 will be invited to present before the Caucus members followed by a brief question and answer session. Up to four candidates may be endorsed who will then have Caucus support. This election cycle there are three board seats open for four-year terms and one board seat open for a two-year term.
The following events will occur beginning in late summer 2024 and leading up to the April 2025 election.
- July/August 2024: Solicitation of potential District 113 Caucus delegates.
- Late August: Selection of District 113 Caucus delegate members.
- September 4, 2024 - First Caucus Delegate Planning Meeting to review of district priorities, caucus and board member responsibilities and bylaws. This meeting was held at the Deerfield Village Hall and can be viewed here.
- September 17, 2024 - Second Caucus Delegate Planning Meeting to discuss the candidate questionnaire and criteria for vetting and endorsing board candidates. This meeting will be held at the Deerfield Village Hall beginning at 7:00 PM.
- October 19, 2024: Caucus Endorsement Meetings to conduct candidate interviews and vote on endorsements, and to elect officers for the next caucus cycle. This meeting will be held at the Deerfield Village Hall beginning at 9:00 AM and may last several hours. Lunch will be served to attendees.
- November 12-18, 2024: Board Candidates required to file nominating petitions with the County Clerk (refer to Lake County website for exact dates and requirements).
- April 1, 2025: Election Day for District 113 Board of Education members.
